This summer's most exclusive golfing opportunity was held on Monday June 27, 2011, at the Western Golf and Country Club in Redford with the 2011 MSHOF Celebrity Golf Invitational.
This was your chance to not only play on a gorgeous Donald Ross designed course, but also to spend the day with a Michigan Sports Hall of Famer or local sports celebrity. Every foursome will golf alongside one of these amazing sports figures, hearing their behind-the-scenes stories while enjoying the links.
This year's outing featured a pair of Michigan Sports Hall of Famers as Co-Chairs: longtime Detroit Lions kicker Eddie Murray, and LPGA great Meg Mallon. Every registered golfer can also have the benefit of a free Meg Mallon Short-Game Clinic.
Celebrities that have participated in the past include:
Hall of Famers: Lem Barney, Vinnie Johnson, Rudy Tomjanovich, Frank Beckmann, Mike Lucci, Bill Gadsby, George Blaha, Frank Tanana, Glenn Johnson, John Hiller and Ray Lane.
Sports Broadcasters: Jim Brandstatter, Dan Miller, Jennifer Hammond, Mark Champion, Shireen Saski and Fred McLeod.
Sports Celebrities: Red Wings GM Ken Holland and former coach Dave Lewis, former Lions players Dorne Dibble and Tom Nowatzke and former coach Monte Clark.
