Doanld Burrell Canham

Continuing his illustrious career as Michigan's Athletic Director, Canham first as an "M" student starred in track. Set NCAA High Jump record 6'71/4" 1940. Captained "M" track '41, coached "M" to 12 Big Ten Titles (outdoors '55, '56, '61, '62; indoord '55, '56, '59, '60, '61, '63, '64; '55 Cross Country) won 80% of 115 meets; his squads set more than 80 World, American and Big Ten track records; founded U.S. Track & Field Federation '62; served U.S. State Dept. coaching clinics overseas; founded and directed highly succesful NCAA Indoor Track Meet '65 in Detroit; authored five books on track. As Michigan AD for years set national attendance records in football and basketball. Inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1978.
