Joseph Priestly J.P. McCarthy

Joseph Priestly "J.P." McCarthy was a legenadry figure in broadcasting for 32 years at radio station WJR. He was named to the Radio Hall of Fame in 1992. He was a great promoter of sports and regulary interviewed Michigan and Michigan State coaches as well as coaches, players and general managers of the Tigers, Red Wings, Lions and Pistons. He did color commentary for Detroit Lions' preseasons games. A golfing and boating enthusiast, he covered America's Cup yachting competitions and his PAL Golf Tournament attracted golf's biggest names and raised millions of dollars for the Police Athletic League. Inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.
