Jim Northrup

Northrup was one of the bright stars of the Detroit Tigers 1968 World Championship team. He hit 5 grand slam home runs that year including one in game six of the World Series. In the decisive game seven, he knocked in the winning run. He played 12 years in the major leagues (1964-1975). Ten of those years with Detroit. He had a lifetime batting average of .267. Known as the "Gray Fox," Northrup starred in baseball, track, football and basketball at Alma College. Inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.
