ADDRESSING STATEWIDE ECONOMIC CONDITIONS,
MICHIGAN SPORTS HALL OF FAME POSTPONES
54th ANNUAL INDUCTION EVENT
DETROIT (Dec. 31, 2008) Due to the current financial climate in Michigan, the Board of Directors of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame (MSHOF) has announced that the 54th Induction Event originally scheduled for Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, has been postponed to a future date that will be announced.
This difficult decision by the MSHOF Board has been made following weeks of discussions with key sponsors and partners and is intended to reduce the financial pressure on MSHOF supporters during these challenging times.
"Given the tremendous challenges and fiscal uncertainty facing all of us as in Michigan, as caretakers of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, we feel this decision is both prudent and responsible," said Ray Scott, recently-named MSHOF chairman. "We have made tremendous progress in the last few years in increasing the scope and impact of our induction event and ancillary programs within the entire sports community, and we feel that it';s extremely important that we give the Class of 2008 inductees the same high quality experience that inductees and attendees have come to expect."
