MICHIGAN SPORTS HALL OF FAME RECEIVES ACHIEVEMENT AWARD; HONORS TOMORROW'S WINNERS AT DAC EVENT

DETROIT --- On Monday, May 10th, the Detroit Athletic Club (DAC) and the March of Dimes honored the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame (MSHOF) with their Lifetime Achievement Award at the 22nd Annual Athletic Awards. Board Chairman Scott Lesher and Executive Director Jim Stark received the award on behalf of the Hall of Fame.

In addition, the MSHOF revived their tradition of presenting the Tomorrow's Winners Awards to the high school athletes and, for the first time, college athletes of the year. Beginning in 1995, the Hall of Fame presented the Tomorrow's Winners Awards to the best and brightest of the high school scholar/athletes from across the states. Moving forward, the Hall will present their awards on an annual basis to the winners of the DAC Athletic Awards at this prestigious event. Hall member and Piston legend Ray Scott served as the keynote speaker.

"It's a great honor for the hall to be recognized by a prestigious organization such as the Detroit Athletic Club and to be included in such a wonderful event," said Jim Stark, the executive director for the MSHOF. "We are also very proud to announce our new partnership with the DAC and the March of Dimes to annually present our Tomorrow's Winners awards, an award we have given out since 1995, as part of these and future Athletic Awards ceremonies."

This year's first-time college recipients are Central Michigan's Dan LeFevour and Michigan State's Allyssa DeHaan - who also received the MSHOF Tomorrow's Winner's award in 2006. From a field of 12 finalists, swimmer Emily Bos of Holland High School and quarterback Jason Fracassa of Sterling Heights Stevenson High School were announced as the high school DAC Athletes of the Year as well recipients of the Tomorrow's Winners awards
