MICHIGAN SPORTS HALL OF FAME MOURNS PASSING
OF LEGENDARY BOXING FIGURE

DETROIT (October 26, 2012, 2012) – The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame mourns the loss of long time boxing legend Emanuel Steward. Best known as the heart and soul of the successful Kronk Boxing program, Steward also reached out to the community to give many at-risk boys a chance to succeed through boxing.

The trainer and manager of many world champions, his greatest and most successful partnership was likely with fellow Michigan Sports Hall of Famer Thomas Hearns. The two combined to help make "The Hit Man" one of the most successful boxers in the world during competing against such rivals as Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler and Roberto Duran.

A member of the Class of 1996, Emanuel will always be remembered for not only his success in the boxing world, but also as a great humanitarian. He will be missed by all.

The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame is a 501©3 non-profit organization.
